Summer Staff Openings
The following descriptions are not exhaustive. They are just to give you an idea of what each position looks like. If you would like to know more about a position feel free to us. All positions begin May 21st with two weeks of paid training.
For ten weeks of the summer you and your co-counselor will be responsible for the care and discipleship of 12-15 children for five days at a time. You will care for them physically, emotionally, and spiritually as they experience a fun week at Camp Istrouma. A Letter to Our Prospective Staff Why Summer Camp?
Day Camp Leader
You will be leading 1st – 6th graders from 7am to 5pm Monday through Thursday. Day campers participate in many of the regular camp activities but do not stay the night at camp. In the evenings when you don’t have campers you will be asked to help out where needed.
You will be tasked with coordinating the Leaders In Training Experience program. LITEs are highschoolers who have a desire to serve and grow at Camp Istrouma. Some come for only a week but most return for multiple sessions. You will have the opportunity to disciple these young men and women in what it means to be a follower of Christ. You will also supervise other LITE Leaders.
You will be working with the LITE Coordinators with the Leaders In Training Experience program. LITEs are highschoolers who have a desire to serve and grow at Camp Istrouma. Some come for only a week but most return for multiple sessions. You will have the opportunity to disciple these young men and women in what it means to be a follower of Christ.
You will be responsible for many of the games and activities that happen at camp. These include but are not limited to paintball, group games, waterfront, bonfires, and special events. It is required that you are able to become a lifeguard. We will provide lifeguard training that requires you to swim 550 yards (about 15 minutes) and memorize various lifesaving information.
You will be responsible for all things media that happen at camp. You will be tasked with taking and editing pictures and videos, running slide shows, updating social media, and other related tasks.
You will be responsible for maintaining the physical needs of the camp. This will include things like landscaping and building maintenance. You will also work closely with our LITEs and have opportunities to teach and lead them as you work together.
