We understand how important it is to you that your camper is in the same cabin as his/her friends. As always we will continue to do whatever we can to get your camper in the same cabin as their friends. However, we are changing our policy to limit the group of friends to three campers. In the past we have allowed a group of friends to make up most of the cabin. This causes the other campers in the cabin to be isolated socially. It becomes an unnecessary hurdle for those campers to jump over in order to feel included by their peers at camp.
The other reason for making this change is our motto, “Developing disciples, forming friendships, and impacting lives forever.” One third of our motto is, “Forming Friendships.” Camp is an incredible place to meet and understand people. Camp is about getting out of our comfort zones and trying new things so we can grow as individuals. We see significant personal growth in campers when they get to know people they normally wouldn’t. For many of them, camp is the first time they discover this value in friendship.
We hope you understand the potential fruit this new policy holds. If you have any questions or want to discuss this further we would love to hear from you.
